The 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, on Monday, declined to attend the crucial meeting convened by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The lawmakers, known for their allegiance to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, cited procedural irregularities as their reason for turning down the invitation.
Governor Fubara, through the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, had extended an invitation to the legislators for a meeting at the Government House. However, the lawmakers, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, rejected the call. This development is the latest in an 18-month-long political standoff rooted in the fallout between the Governor and his predecessor, Wike.
