An announcement that has drawn mixed reactions in women’s football was shared by the world football governing body FIFA in their latest press session on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. It has officially been confirmed that the Women’s club world cup which was initially scheduled for 2026 alongside the Men’s Club World Cup which was scheduled for 2025 has received a new date as well as a change of format.
FIFA confirmed that women’s club football will now have two different tournaments, one will be the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup scheduled to take place in 2026 and the Women’s Club World Cup scheduled for 2028.
