Manchester City’s forward player, Erling Haaland was named the winner of the award as expected by football fans around the world. The Norwegian joined the back-to-back Premier League Champions during the 2022 summer transfer window from Borussia Dortmund for £65 million.
Haaland was a key part of City winning the league title for the fifth time in six years, scoring 36 goals, breaking the record of 34 for a single Premier League season set by Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer in 42-match Premier League games. The Norwegian is also the first player in the Premier League to score hat-tricks in three successive home matches, and the first Man City player to score a Manchester derby hat-trick since 1970.
