Akin Alabi, the lawmaker representing Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency in Oyo State, has advocated for a Southern Christian to become Senate President in the upcoming 10th National Assembly inauguration.
Several newly elected senators have expressed interest in the position, but Alabi expects that the next Senate President should be a Southerner.
He noted that since the President-Elect, Bola Tinubu and his vice, Kashim Shettima are Muslims, it is right for a Christian to head the nation’s parliament. Alabi suggested that the position should go to a Christian Southerner, preferably from the South-East or South-South.
