Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, dismissed rumors of a rift with President Muhammadu Buhari at a campaign rally in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State.
Tinubu dedicated much of his speech to praising the President and talked about how he would have asked Buhari to remain in office if it were not for the constitutional democracy.
Tinubu likened Buhari to former US President Abraham Lincoln and emphasized that their relationship is about nation-building, not individuals.
During the rally, Buhari spoke in both English and Hausa and confirmed that he will continue to support Tinubu’s campaign.
Tinubu’s speech differed from previous ones in Ogun and Ekiti states, where he had criticized the scarcity of redesigned notes as part of a deliberate effort to sabotage his campaign.
However, during the rally in the presence of Buhari, Tinubu was silent on the issue.
