Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, pledged to boost Northern Nigeria’s economy through agriculture and quality education.
He made this promise during a pre-campaign rally meeting in Dutse, Jigawa State capital, addressing stakeholders, particularly women and youth.
The statement from the Obi-Datti Media Office in Abuja quoted Obi saying he and Vice Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmad will develop Jigawa, transforming its arable land for goods production for export if elected.
He emphasized his commitment to securing the country, moving from consumption to production and engaging the productive-aged youth. Obi assured the youth of quality education and urged them to take back their country and destiny.
At the Emir of Dutse’s Palace, he and Datti sought the Emir’s blessing for their mandate to build a just and equitable Nigeria.
Obi stated that Nigeria shouldn’t have over 133 million people living in poverty with its abundant resources.
He plans to develop Jigawa, open its borders and prepare the state for export. The election, he said, should be driven by the people’s desire for a competent and trustworthy leader with a verifiable record.
