‘Any ruling against me by Justice Nyako is null and void,’ Kanu declares

Detained leader of proscribed Igbo separatist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has declared that any ruling against him issued by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, stands null and void as she had effectively recused herself from his terrorism trial.

Kanu who made the assertion following the reassignment of his case to Justice Nyako by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Abuja, Justice John Tsoho, said it was not only unlawful but unconstitutional for Justice Nyako to continue his trial since she had removed herself from the case.

In a statement on Thursday issued on his behalf by his Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu emphasized that any ruling purportedly made by Justice Nyako on Monday, February 10, regarding his case is null and void as she remains recused from his case and cannot try him, let alone make any ruling.
