Amid opposition from the National Economic Council (NEC) and 19 northern state governors, the Senate on Thursday passed the four tax bills proposed by President Bola Tinubu for second reading through voice votes.
The bills passed a second reading after Opeyemi Bamidele, majority leader of the senate, led a debate on them on Thursday. The proposed legislation seeks to harmonize, coordinate, and resolve disputes arising from revenue administration in Nigeria.
The session saw lawmakers deliberating on the general principles of the tax reform bills.
