The Secretary to the Ogun State Government (SSG), Talabi Olatokunbo, has denied any involvement in the arrest of Babatunde Aremu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Leader for Ijebu Ode Local Government and a member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
Aremu was reportedly arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Sunday in Ijebu Ode.
According to sources, his arrest was linked to alleged plans to stage a protest over the ongoing crisis within the NURTW in the state.
A video circulating on Monday shows two unmarked white Hilux vehicles, carrying individuals believed to be security personnel, firing shots—seemingly to disperse bystanders during the operation to arrest Aremu. The arrest was rumoured to have been ordered by Talabi, sparking a public outcry.
