Governor Yusuf Honoured For Education Reform

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has awarded Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State the prestigious NUT Golden Award for exceptional performance in reforming the state’s education sector.

This recognition was announced on World Teachers’ Day 2024, celebrated at Eagle Square, Abuja, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education. Governor Yusuf was selected for this honour alongside five other governors from Borno, Oyo, Benue, Enugu, and Kebbi states.

Governor Yusuf’s achievements in education reform were highlighted during the event. His administration allocated 29.9% of Kano’s 2024 budget to education, demonstrating his commitment to prioritising education. Additionally, his declaration of a state of emergency in the education sector significantly improved infrastructure and access to quality education.

Comrade Titus Ambe, NUT National Chairman, praised Governor Yusuf and the other awardees for their unwavering commitment to advancing education. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Senator George Akume, also commended the governors for their dedication to education.

Speaking on behalf of the six awardees, Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his commitment to further investing in education. He emphasised the importance of sustaining progress to ensure future generations thrive.

This recognition is a testament to Governor Yusuf’s efforts in revitalising Kano State’s education sector. His administration’s focus on promoting unity, development, and progress has yielded positive results, and this award motivates him to continue delivering quality education to the people of Kano State.
