“Made In Lagos”: Now Nigeria’s Most Streamed Album On Apple Music

Nigerian superstar , Ayo Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, has been recognised by Apple Music, as his album ‘Made In Lagos’ has become the most streamed Nigerian album on the platform.

In their announcement, Apple Music used a blend of Yoruba and Nigerian pidgin, saying “Oshe Naija,” which translates to “thanks Nigeria.”

Released in 2020, the “Made in Lagos” album featured Tems on a global hit “Essence”  which won a Grammy award.

Burna Boy’s album “Love, Damini” follows closely in second place. Notably, Burna Boy has four albums represented on the list.

Other albums making the top rankings include Tems’ album in 4th position, Davido’s “Timeless,” Asake’s “Work of Art,” and Omah Lay’s “Boy Alone.”

To celebrate this milestone, Apple Music will launch the Oshe Naija collection, featuring eight exclusively curated playlists by Afro-fusion artist Omah Lay from Port Harcourt and Hip-Hop sensation ODUMODUBLVCK from Abuja.

Others are maverick rapper Shallipopi (Benin City), Afro-R&B doyenne Qing Madi (Benin City), genre-bending singer-songwriter Seyi Vibez (Lagos), legendary Afro-pop singer-songwriter 2Baba (Jos), sure-fire rapper Jeriq (Enugu) and trailblazing up-coming singer Blooy Civilian (Abuja).
