2027: New Power Bloc Emerges In Kwara

According to a position paper exclusively obtained by LEADERSHIP, the aim of the KRM which claimed to be apolitical is, “to revitalise the state’s political culture and advance in a more progressive manner the collective interest of the state and its people.”

The two major parties in Kwara State are the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). APC took over leadership of the state in 2019 from the PDP.

However, the new group led by a former chief whip in the Kwara State House of Assembly and legal practitioner, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, noted what it described as “a grave political void in the political affairs of the state,” pointing out that while no organisation ever championed the holistic interest of the people of the state, “an organisation as strong as this must come to the state’s rescue.”
