Lookman joins group of Kvaratskhelia, Dybala, Leao after double assist in Atalanta’s win at Monza

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman provided two assists for Atalanta in their 2-1 win over Monza at the Brianteo, Soccernet.ng reports.

Lookman returned to Atalanta’s starting eleven for the first time in four games when they traveled to Monza for their 32nd game of the Serie A campaign. He was paired with El Bilal Toure in the attack as they looked to get another win to keep their hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League alive.

La Dea had a tough start to the game, but they got the lead just before the break, as Lookman sent a well-weighted cross into the area from a corner, which Charles De Ketelaere converted with a cool header.

Atalanta started the second half well and dominated the early exchanges. However, they had to wait until the 73rd minute, and Lookman was part of the action once more. The Super Eagles forward got isolated in the box with a Monza player to beat, but he just laid the ball for Toure, who was running into the area. The Malian made no mistake from about ten yards, and he sent a strike into the net to give Atalanta a two-goal cushion.

It looked like a sure win for Gian Pero Gasperini’s men until Daniel Maldini scored in the 89th minute to make sure of a nervy end. Nonetheless, Atalanta held on and saw out the 2-1 lead.

Lookman saw out the entire game, and his brace ensured that he became the fifth player to score more than 20 goals and deliver more than 10 assists since the start of last season in Serie A, after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Rafael Leão, Paulo Dybala, and Olivier Giroud.
