YouTube Turns 19: 2.7 Billion Users, $30 Billion in Ads

YouTube, the undisputed king of online video, celebrates its 19th birthday with a staggering 2.7 billion active users and a whopping $30 billion in annual ad revenue. Launched in 2005 by three passionate entrepreneurs and acquired by Google a year later, the platform has grown into a global phenomenon, with over 113 billion monthly visits worldwide.

But YouTube’s impact goes beyond numbers. It’s a treasure trove of information, entertainment, and inspiration, with over 720,000 hours of video uploaded daily. Users, roughly 54% male and 46% female, spend over a billion hours glued to the platform daily, with the 15-45 age group being the most active.

This vast audience also translates to significant income for content creators, known as YouTubers. MrBeast, famous for his outlandish stunts and challenges, reigns supreme as the highest earner, pocketing an estimated $54 million annually. Other top earners include vloggers, gamers, and entertainers, showcasing the diverse range of successful creators on the platform.

However, YouTube’s influence extends beyond individual creators. India emerges as the platform’s biggest user base with 462 million users, followed by the US with 239 million.
