ASABA The Lagos State Taekwondo Association has attributed the two gold and bronze medals won on Monday at the 21 National Sports Festival (NSF), in Asaba, Delta State, to the commitment and determination of Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), the coaching crew and the association members to make proud Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu.
Abdullateef Arinola, won a gold medal in the male Fin 54kg while Shukurat Abdulsalam, also won a gold medal in -46kg just as Hassan Roshidat won a bronze in -67kg (women category) at the Taekwondo events decided on Monday at the Multi-purpose Hall, inside the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba Delta State.
Its Chairman, Jimmy Ogunnowo, who was elated over the feat, said the LSSC created a well-structured platform for the association’s coaches to produce credible champions who had been able to win three Gold, three Silver and two Bronze medals so far at the competition.
The Ogunnowo, who regarded the feat as a record-breaking achievement, said the number of laurels won so far at the Asaba 2022 Games was an improvement on the two editions of the Sports Festivals in Abuja, in 2018 and Edo State, in 2021, adding that the association’s technical crew worked hard in ensuring that the athletes achieved excellent performances at the Games.
