World Health Organisation Adds Second Malaria Vaccine to Prequalified List

ABUJA – The World Health Organization (WHO) has prequalified the R21/Matrix-M malaria vaccine, developed by Oxford University and manufactured by Serum Institute of India, for the prevention of malaria in children.

This marks the second malaria vaccine to receive prequalification from the WHO, following the RTS, S/AS01 vaccine. Both vaccines have demonstrated safety and efficacy in clinical trials.
