Sunti Sugar Donates N27m Worth Facility To Niger Community

MINNA – As part of its social responsibility to the host community in Niger state, Sunti Sugar Company has constructed and donated four classroom block, offices and modern toilets at a cost of, N27 million.
 
Speaking at the commissioning of the facilities donated to St. Mathias Church (Anglican), Kusogi community in Mokwa Local Government Area, the Etsu Nupe Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar called on all three tiers of government, parents and corporate organisations to give priority to education as the surest and quickest way to attain rapid development.
 
The Etsu Nupe who is also the Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, said the kind of education that befits today’s Nigeria is that embedded in commerce where different skills will be thought from infantry in order to de-emphasize search for non-existing white collar jobs after graduating.
 
The Monarch who decried the level of joblessness and its attendant consequences said remodelling of Nigeria’s education system to include core commercial rudiments will not only reduce unemployment but prepare the graduates to become employers of labour in line with what they have learnt right from kindergarten.
 
While calling on parents to enrol their wards in the school to acquire western education, the Etsu Nupe whose message was delivered by, Alhaji Baiwa Mohammed encouraged the community to emphasize on educating more of the girl child education to equip them with the rudiments of motherhood and keeping the home front safe for better society. 
 
He commended the management of Sunti Sugar Company for its kind gesture and called on other corporate organizations to emulate the Company as part of their corporate social responsibilities to their host communities.
 
The General Manager of the company, Mr. Anlo Du Pisani had earlier said the project was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibilities towards developing their immediate constituency for mutual co-existence between the Sunti Sugar Company and the community.
 
Anlo further revealed that, in August 2022, the company conducted an independent needs assessment of its host community to identify areas of priority for development out of which education was given priority.
 
“In realization of the fact that education is key in providing a prosperous and happy life, helping to improve the economy and helping to give equal opportunity to all, the company decided to embarked on an education project which was funded majorly by the company and a foreign donor at a total cost of, N27, 265, 177”.
 
Also speaking, the Chairman, Mokwa Local Government Area, Alhaji Jibrin Abdullahi Muregi who officially commissioned the project lauded Sunti Sugar company for adding to the improvement of education sector of the area and commended the management for living up to her corporate social responsibility of providing social amenities to the host community.
 
Bishop of Kutigi Diocese, Bishop Jeremiah Kolo also thanked Sunti Sugar Company for the completion of the project describing it as a monumental achievement not only for the community but for the Anglican Diocese and the state in general.
