In the wake of a devastating fire outbreak at the Canadian High Commission in Abuja earlier this week, the High Commission has officially confirmed that its visa application centres in both Abuja and Lagos will continue to serve the public.
The announcement was made by Mr. Demilade Kosemani, the Communications and Public Affairs Officer for the High Commission of Canada in Abuja, in a statement issued on Thursday, November 9, 2023
The tragic incident that occurred on Monday claimed two lives, including that of a local employee, and left two others injured. While investigations are underway to determine the cause of the explosion, Global Affairs Canada expressed its condolences and pledged to work closely with local authorities.
Despite the suspension of certain operations at the High Commission in Abuja, the statement emphasized that the Visa application centres in both Abuja and Lagos will maintain their regular service hours. The statement further noted that the Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) would continue to process applications as usual.
