The House of Representatives has summoned Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Yemi Cardoso to explain the decision to lift the forex ban on 43 items.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the lower legislative chamber passed the resolution to summon the CBN governor during plenary on Tuesday, following the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Sada Soli, a lawmaker from Katsina.
Recall that 43 items were previously restricted from accessing forex in 2015.
The list included rice, poultry products, eggs, beef, toothpicks, and pencils.
However, the new CBN governor recently lifted restrictions on these items.
