The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated the Mambas of Mozambique 3-2 at the Estadio Municipal de Albufeira in Portugal on October 16, 2023, in their first friendly win in five years.
Mozambique took the lead seven minutes into the game through Geny Catamo, but Nigeria equalized 13 minutes later through Terem Moffi. Frank Onyeka then put Nigeria ahead in the 30th minute, and Moses Simon converted a penalty to make it 3-1 at halftime.
Mozambique pulled one back in the second half through Faisal Abdul Bangal, but Nigeria held on for the win.
The win is a boost for the Super Eagles ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe next month. They will host Lesotho on November 13 and travel to Zimbabwe three days later.
