Victor Osimhen picked a knock during Super Eagles tie against Saudi Arabia, and he is scheduled to undergo an MRI scan today
Super Eagles and Napoli star, Victor Osimhen, is reportedly not overly concerned about the injury he sustained during the Super Eagles’ match against Saudi Arabia, Soccernet.ng reports.
As per TuttoNapoli, Osimhen had a conversation with his Napoli medical doctor in preparation for his scheduled MRI scan, and he appeared relatively unfazed by the knock he received during the game.
Osimhen was fouled by a Saudi Arabian player and was subsequently replaced by OGC Nice forward Terem Moffi in the 58th minute as a precaution.
Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro emphasized the importance of respecting the players’ clubs who pay their salaries and have decided to release them for international duties by avoiding unnecessary risks.
Meanwhile, a report from Naples suggests that Osimhen spoke with Doctor Raffaele Canonico and conveyed a sense of calm about the minor discomfort he was experiencing due to the knock.
The report states: “Yesterday, however, the player with his compatriots showed himself to be quite calm and not worried about the small pains he feels, which he described without particular apprehension on the phone to Doctor Raffaele Canonico. Hoping his sensations are the right ones, today the head of the Napoli medical staff will test him to a series of tests to avoid complications.”
Osimhen has been in impressive form, scoring six goals in eight domestic league appearances, making him a key player in Rudi Garcia’s squad.
Napoli is set to play their next two matches away from the Diego Maradona Stadium, with domestic league fixtures against Verona and Union Berlin for their UEFA Champions League matchday 3 clash.
Osimhen’s potential absence could pose a risk as Napoli looks to close the gap with AC Milan and Real Madrid in the Champions League Group C.
