Super Eagles and OGC Nice star Terem Moffi in Real Madrid’s sights as Kylian Mbappe deal remains uncertain

Real Madrid are closely monitoring OGC Nice striker Terem Moffi as a potential alternative for the 2024 summer transfer window if their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe encounters obstacles, Soccernet.ng reports.

Madrid are long-term admirers of Mbappe, but concerns have arisen over the Frenchman’s contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain.

And according to Defense Central, Moffi could be the perfect Plan B for the Spanish giants.

Moffi has established himself as a standout performer in Ligue 1, making significant contributions during his spells with Lorient and OGC Nice.

Despite being somewhat overshadowed by Victor Osimhen on the international stage, Moffi’s transfer to Nice in the January window has been transformational.

He concluded the 2022/23 season on a high note, leading to Nice securing him on a permanent deal this summer.

In the new campaign, Moffi has been exceptional, notching three goals and providing two assists in just five appearances.

The 24-year-old forward netted a remarkable brace against PSG in a 2-3 away victory for Nice this weekend that has not escaped Real Madrid’s notice. Interestingly, Mbappe and Moffi nearly exchanged blows late in that encounter.

While Real Madrid’s primary objective remains to sign Mbappe on a Bosman deal in the 2024 summer transfer window, recent reports suggest growing uncertainties.

Paris Saint-Germain appear determined to retain the French superstar and may offer an enticing contract to keep him at Parc des Princes.

As a result, Real Madrid are actively exploring alternatives, with several strikers, including Erling Haaland, emerging as potential targets.

However, pursuing Haaland may prove challenging, making Moffi a viable option for Los Blancos.

Real Madrid prefers securing Mbappe on a Bosman deal next summer. Nevertheless, if circumstances dictate, Moffi could become their top priority in the coming months.
