Manchester United confirmed the defender will wear the number 4 jersey on its official website on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. Sofyan Amrabat previously wore the number 34 jersey number in the last five seasons at Hellas Verona and Fiorentina.
The number was first worn by the club’s legendary captain, Steve Bruce following the introduction of Premier League squad numbers in 1993/94. Others to have worn by the number are Owen Hargreaves, and the Argentine duo of Juan Sebastian Veron, Gabriel Heinze.
