The Super Eagles, the Nigerian national men’s football team, have made a triumphant return to Lagos following their victory in Monrovia, which secured their spot in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
In an intense match held at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium, the Super Eagles emerged victorious with a 3-2 win against Sierra Leone, marking their fourth victory in the qualifying campaign.
The Nigerian team started that encounter brilliantly, with Victor Osimhen scoring an impressive brace in the first half.
However, the Leone Stars put up a fierce fight, managing to level the score before Kelechi Iheanacho secured a last-minute goal, leading to a dramatic victory for the three-time African champions.
This thrilling triumph propelled Nigeria back to the top of Group A, as they accumulated an impressive 12 points out of a possible 15.
Due to the absence of a CAF-approved stadium in Sierra Leone, the match took place in Liberia, with the Super Eagles arriving on Saturday for the Sunday game.

The Super Eagles join 13 other national teams that have guaranteed their spot at Ivory Coast 2023 slated to kick off in January.
