Former Sokoto State governor, Sen. Aminu Tambuwal, has lampooned Nigerian politicians who defect from one party to another, especially those decamping from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying they are only driven by hunger and their stomach infrastructure.
Tambuwal who made the assertion while speaking to journalists after the North-West Zonal meeting of the PDP in Kaduna on Saturday, attributed the defections to selfish interests rather than the interest of the people they serve.
Tambuwal who represents Sokoto South Senatorial District in the Senate, expressed disappointment over the recent wave of defections by PDP members across the country, said no politician with a conscience would join the APC given the current economic situation in the country, considering its policies and the economic hardship faced by Nigerians.
