Jürgen Klopp appears ready to celebrate if Man City faces serious consequences for breaching financial regulations. In a playful manner, he joked about hosting a garden parade and personally buying the beer if City loses their titles.
Manchester City is currently awaiting the outcome of a 115-charge Financial Fair Play (FFP) investigation, with potential penalties ranging from points deductions and relegation to title stripping. Under Klopp’s leadership, Liverpool finished second to Manchester City in both the 2018-19 and 2021-22 seasons, making Klopp’s interest in the case understandable. Reflecting on the possibility of City losing their titles, he joked:
“We talked about it before I left. I haven’t spent much time in Mallorca because I’m always flying around. But if it happens, I told everyone to book a flight to Mallorca—I’ll buy the beer! We’d have a parade in my garden. Oh dear… what a headline! I haven’t followed the case much. Two more months until a decision? Wow.”
