House Reps vow increased Army funding to combat insecurity

The House of Representatives Committee on Army has assured the Nigerian Army of enhanced financial support in the 2025 budget to strengthen its fight against insecurity across the country.

During the 2025 budget defence session on Monday, the committee’s chairman, Aminu Balele (APC, Katsina State), commended the Army for its effective implementation of the 2024 budget and expressed the committee’s commitment to sustaining its support.

Speaking after a closed-door meeting with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Olufemi Oluyede, Balele highlighted the committee’s confidence in the Army’s performance. He stated, “We are committed to providing unwavering support, fostering cooperation, and maintaining solidarity with our military counterparts. Be assured of this committee’s determination to champion the welfare of our troops, ensure adequate power provisions, and promote capacity building at all levels.”
