The Federal Government has reaffirmed its decision not to engage mercenaries in the fight against terrorism and banditry, particularly in the North.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, clarified this position during a joint press briefing at the State House in Abuja with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi.
Tuggar described the use of private military companies as unsustainable and reiterated that Nigeria’s security agencies are fully capable of addressing the nation’s challenges. His comments follow similar assurances from Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen. Christopher Musa, who recently ruled out mercenaries, stating that the Nigerian military is equipped to handle the ongoing security threats.
