An Igbo group under the aegis of Concerned Igbo Ministers (CIM) has warned governors in the South East to perish thoughts of a second tenure in 2027 if the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu is still in detention by the next election cycle.
The group which gave the warning in an open letter to the South East governors on Thursday, accused them of not doing enough to secure Kanu’s release despite making it a campaign issue prior to the 2023 elections.
The CIM letter which was signed by the President General/ International Coordinator, Rev. Tony Uzo Anthony; and Secretary General, Apostle Tony Osuji, also expressed its disappointment that Igbo leaders could not raise Kanu’s matter before President Ahmed Bola Tinubu during his recent visit to Enugu, as well as what it described as the reluctance of the president to release the Biafran agitator.
