JUST IN: Nasarawa Governor Speaks on El-Rufai’s Dispute With APC, Ministerial Rejection

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has weighed in on the alleged rift between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

In an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today program, Governor Sule downplayed the speculation surrounding El-Rufai’s loyalty to the APC.

“El-Rufai has not left our party; he is still part of the party,” Sule said on Wednesday night. “I think it’s too early to start making those kinds of permutations, that this one is leaving and therefore the house coming down.”

The governor also revealed that he has not been in touch with El-Rufai since he left office. He said, “I don’t know what he is doing, I do not know where he is, I don’t know anything about his movement.”

Regarding El-Rufai’s ministerial rejection, Governor Sule pointed out that the decision to appoint or reject ministers lies solely with President Bola Tinubu.

El-Rufai’s bid to become a minister was unsuccessful after he failed to pass the Nigerian Senate screening hurdles. Sources close to the former governor claim that he holds President Tinubu responsible for his misfortune and has vowed to fight back in the 2027 presidential election.

Additionally, El-Rufai is reportedly at odds with his successor, Uba Sani.
