The former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau and his colleagues in the League of Northern Democrats (LND) have unveiled ambitious plans to rebrand the group into a national political party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group aims to challenge the dominance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the elections.
In a statement issued on Sunday by its convener, Dr. Umar Ardo, the group declared its intention to evolve into the League of National Democrats by fostering alliances with southern political figures who share its vision of good governance and reform.
