President Bola Tinubu is set to travel to Accra, Ghana, on Monday, January 6, to attend the inauguration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama, scheduled for January 7.
The announcement was made by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, in a statement released on Sunday.
The statement, titled ‘President Tinubu to Attend the Inauguration of John Mahama, President-elect of Ghana,’ noted that the invitation came following Mahama’s visit to Tinubu in December.
Mahama, who previously served as Ghana’s 12th president from 2011 to 2017, secured re-election during the December 2024 elections.
“President Tinubu and John Mahama share a longstanding personal relationship, mirroring the close ties between Nigeria and Ghana,” Onanuga stated.
As the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, Tinubu will join other African leaders at the event.
He will be accompanied by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and other senior government officials, marking his second official visit to Ghana.
