The Northern Elders Forum (NEF, has joined voices opposing the Tax Reform Bills presented to the National Assembly by President Bola Tinubu.
The group demanded for its immediate suspension while the federal government engages with Nigerians, critical stakeholders, and experts in extensive meetings in order to secure their buy-in.
The NEF which made its position known in a statement issued on Saturday by the Chairman of its management board, Al-Amin Musa Daggash, expressed disatisfaction “at the way and manner the tax reforms are put together,” describing it as “terribly shocking,” while accusing the Tinubu-led administration of denying “citizens the vigorous ventilation of democratic opinions and freedom of expression.”
