The Lagos State Government has received commendations for its support for persons with disabilities through its various human-centric initiatives in the past years.
Speaking on Wednesday at an end-of-the-year event held at the Abayomi Finnih Recreational Park, Oregun in honour of children with special needs and caregivers, the stakeholders appreciated the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs for supporting PWDs.
The Founder, Balm of Gilead, Bisola Idowu, thanked LASODA for ensuring individuals with disabilities were adequately catered for with the various initiatives that were carried out throughout the year.
She said, “We are indeed grateful for LASODA and the Lagos State Government for their gestures in the last 12 months to ensure that the needs of homes managing these children are catered for.
It shows they prioritise our needs and have been consistent in that regard.
“We thank them and as we move into the new year, we look forward to more support.”
Others at the event appreciated the agency for being proactive in promoting social inclusion and the welfare of PWDs through the THEMES Plus Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
The General Manager of LASODA, Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, was represented at the event by the Director, Admin and Human Resources, Omolade Sonubi.
Expressing the agency’s commitment to PWDs, she said, “It has been a wonderful year and we are happy to have parents, caregivers, organisations and guardians here to celebrate with our children.
“I know how it has been taking care of the children with special needs, we can only give all the adoration to God. Today, we have gift items for the children, let them have fun, and for everyone to thank God for what He has done in our lives.”
