Tinubu told to extend tenure of accountant general

The Arewa Civil Rights and Professionals Network (ACRPN) has urged President Bola Tinubu to extend the tenure of Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, the first female Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), who will retire in March.

In a statement signed by its President, Barrister Aminu Kabir, the group described Dr Madein as an exceptional leader whose fiscal management and commitment to transparency have strengthened the nation’s financial stability.

“Dr. Madein has demonstrated strategic foresight, prudent fiscal management, and a deep commitment to accountability,” Kabir stated. “Her retirement would create a vacuum that would be difficult to fill.”

The group highlighted her achievements in public financial administration, praising her leadership for laying a foundation of unmatched fiscal restraint.

Kabir added that retaining her in the role would ensure continuity and allow her to complete critical projects.

“Her continued service would positively impact the nation’s economy and maintain financial stability,” the statement read.

ACRPN appealed to President Tinubu to champion women’s competence in leadership, noting that figures like Dr Madein exemplify excellence and contribute significantly to national development.

“We urge President Tinubu to recognise Dr. Madein’s invaluable contributions. Extending her tenure is a critical step towards ensuring stability, continuity, and progress,” Kabir concluded.

This call underscores growing recognition of Dr Madein’s expertise and the broader importance of experienced leadership in managing Nigeria’s financial systems.
