Olamide and Asake have reportedly parted ways after the YBNL Music boss reportedly allowed the ‘Sungba’ crooner to terminate his contract with the record label officially.
According to videowheelztv, as part of the termination agreement, Asake was allowed to leave with the masters to all his songs recorded under the label.
It was also claimed that both parties will, however, maintain a royalty split on the songs for as long as the contract was intended to run, which is a minimum of 10 years.
It was gathered that the contract was terminated a few months ago in the aftermath of the release of his Asake’s album, Lungu Boy.
Speaking on the separation, Olamide reportedly said:
I didn’t create YBNL because I wanted to make money. I created it because I wanted to see other young people grow, so if any artist under me wants to leave, they are free.
He added more specifically that,
Asake has done his part, and I’m proud of him.
Recall that earlier in the week, reports went viral that Asake removed everything about YBNL from his social media handles and unfollowed everyone, including Olamide.
It’s been reported in some quarters that prior to this split, Olamide had offered Asake a new contract after his initial contract with YBNL expired.
Despite Olamide’s spirited efforts to persuade Asake to sign the new contract, the music star declined as he favoured a separation from the rapper who was very instrumental to his rise to global stardom.
It was gathered from a source that the “final straw happened two (2) weeks ago when Asake walked out completely out of the deal opting to be his own boss”
Note that Asake joined YBNL in 2022 and had a meteoric rise to fame with monster hits upon monster hits.
Under YBNL, Asake also achieved the enviable feat of selling out the O2 Arena twice.
