Jigawa Gov loses eldest son in motor accident 24 hours after mother's demise

Barely 24 hours after his mother’s demise, Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has freshly been bereaved following the death of his eldest son, Abdulwahab.

Abdulwahab died in a motor accident on Thursday, December 26, 2024, a day after his grandma, Maryam Namadi, died after a brief illness.

According to reports, the accident occurred while the deceased alongside his friend was returning Kafin Hausa to Dutse as the vehicle he was driving lost control, causing it to somersault.

Pulse gathered that some of his friends, who sustained injuries are currently receiving treatment at Dutse General Hospital.

Confirming the tragedy in a statement on Thursday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Hamisu Gumel, said, “With a heavy heart, Governor Umar Namadi announces the passing of his beloved son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi.

The 24-year-old departed this world on Thursday, December 26, 2024, due to a ghastly motor accident along the Dutse-Kafin-Hausa Road.

“The burial rites are currently underway in Kafin Hausa town in accordance with Islamic traditions.”

The Governor’s spokesperson said Abdulwahab is survived by his parents, Governor Umar Namadi and his wife, as well as his many siblings.

“This tragic incident comes just a day after the governor mourned the passing of his mother, Hajia Maryam Namadi,” the statement added.

The incident has thrown the residents of the state in shock, with many of them expressing condolences to the governor and his family at this difficult time.
