Leicester City head coach, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, has revealed Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi will miss his side’s crucial clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 28-year-old versatile midfielder has been ever-present for the Foxes this season, but he picked up a hamstring injury in his side’s 2-2 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion at the King Power Stadium.
The former Genk man was withdrawn in the 52nd minute, and upon further checks, Van Nistelrooy confirmed the Nigerian would be out longer than expected. Ndidi missed the Foxes game against Newcastle and they lost 4-0 to the Magpies.
Leicester are currently 17th on the English Premier League table, with 14 points from their first 16 games and desperately need to pick up points during the succession of games in this period.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of Leicester’s game against Wolves, Van Nistelrooy revealed Harry Winks is close to featuring for the team, but maintained Ndidi will be out.
“Harry has been fully a part of team training. He’s available for selection again which is very positive news for the team, for the squad. Wilfred is in his rehab. He’s not on the pitch so he’s not available for selection,” the former Manchester United striker said as revealed by the club’s official website.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are currently 19th on the EPL table and recently parted ways with Gary O’Neil as he just two wins and two draws from their previous twelve games.
