Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt has warned that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is getting dangerously powerful while citing potential unforeseen dangers it may cause in the future.
Schmidt said in an interview with ABC News on Monday that it is more concerning because the world is moving toward a time when “every person is going to have the equivalent of a polymath in their pocket” and “we’re soon going to be able to have computers running on their own, deciding what they want to do.”
He also discussed the increasing use of AI-powered drones in warfare, with the stipulation that humans must stay informed and exercise “meaningful” control.
