The Ondo State government has declared Friday, November 15, a public holiday for public servants ahead of the upcoming governorship election.
The decision, made by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, aims at providing residents with the opportunity to travel to their polling units without work obligations, as well as to encourage ease of movement across the state’s 18 local government areas.
The Permanent Secretary, Office of the Head of Service, Femi Ayodele, announced this development in a statement issued on Wednesday, November 13.
Ayodele directed Accounting Officers to disseminate the information to staff of their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
The election is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 16.
Incumbent APC governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is running for election to a full term. Meanwhile, a former deputy governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi of the PDP and 15 other party candidates are running against him.
