NFVCB Approves 75 Movies in September

The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has approved and classified 75 films for public release in September 2024, as announced on its official website.

Among the approved films, there are 39 English titles, 27 Yoruba movies, 6 Igbo films, 3 Hindi productions, and 22 exhibition titles. Notably, 26 films were rated suitable for viewers aged 15 and above, including 15 English films, 6 Yoruba films, and 5 Igbo films. Select titles in this category include “Angeli Mi” by Azeez Babalola, “The Wagner” by Desmond Eliot, and “Nigbakan” by Lateef Adedimeji.

Furthermore, 25 films were rated for viewers aged 18 and older, consisting of 5 English films, 19 Yoruba films, and 1 Igbo film. Notable entries include “Twisted Mind” by Gold Chiakie and “Journey to Nowhere” by Kola Elubipe.

Additionally, “Omode” by Husana Aremu was given a Parental Guidance (PG) rating, while “Masoyibo” by Olalekan Fabilola was classified under guidance.

A total of 22 films were approved for public exhibition in cinemas, featuring 18 English films, 1 Yoruba film, and 3 Hindi films. This group includes notable titles like “Speak No Evil” by Jason Blum & Co. and “Hijack ‘93” by Okpaleke.

It’s important to highlight that not all films produced in Nigeria are licensed by the NFVCB, and some may be deemed unwholesome or unsuitable for younger audiences.
