The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, said on Thursday only a constitutional amendment would give the 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state the same status as the 20 old councils.
He stated this at the second public hearing of the bill on the Local Government Administration in Ikeja.
The legislation is titled: “A Bill for a Law to Provide for Local Governments’ System, Establishment, and Administration and to Consolidate all Laws on Local Government Administration and for connected purposes.
