English Premier League giants are monitoring Nigerian striker Chrisantus Uche with the intention of possibly signing him from Getafe, Soccernet.ng reports.
Uche joined Getafe from Ceuta during the summer transfer window for a meagre €500,000, but he has quickly risen to become their first choice striker, displacing Spanish striker Borja Mayoral.
Uche, who is just 21 years old has registered one goal in ten appearances in La Liga, but his displays seems to have promised more. Hence, some top clubs are keeping tabs on him.
According to Football Espana, Chelsea are monitoring the Nigerian striker and could attempt to sign him soon.
The talks are quite feasible, as it falls in line with Chelsea’s policy of signing young and unproven players across the world. Recall that they attempted to sign Samuel Omorodion from Atletico Madrid last season before the deal fell through at the last minute.
Uche is valued at just €5 million on Transfermarkt, but Getafe could demand for up to double of that. Moreover, the 21-year-old has a contract that lasts until 2028, with the option of a one-year extension. As such, the La Liga club will have the upper hand in any transfer talk.
Now that Chelsea have shown interest in signing Uche, he could attract more clubs if he starts scoring more goals.
