Benue LG Polls: APC Sweeps All 23 Chairmanship, 276 Councillorship Seats

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all the 23 chairmanship and 276 councillorship positions in the Saturday October 5 local government elections held in Benue State.

Declaring the results on Sunday at its headquarters in Makurdi, Chairman of Benue State Independent Electoral Commission, Richard Tombowua said the APC won all the chairmanship and councillorship seats

According to Tombowua, “The election which held yesterday Saturday 5th 2024 across the state was without hitches; credible, free and fair and the returning officers have submitted all the results from the field.

“From the results, All Progressives Congress won all the 23 chairmanship and 276 councillorship positions.”

The chairman informed that five out of the eight political parties which submitted a list of candidates participated in the Saturday election.

He listed the parties that participated in the elections to include; All Progressive Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).

In his response to the exercise, the state chairman of Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Ibrahim Idoko commended the commission for its commitment towards hitch-free election.

Idoko who also commended the state governor, Fr. Hyacinth Alia for providing level-playing ground for all parties in the election, noted his party would review the outcomes of the elections and make the submission known at a latter date.
