The Benue State House of Assembly on Friday amended the 2007 Local Government Act and approved a three-year tenure for elected officials.
The amendment took place a few hours before Saturday’s local government election in the state.
The House unanimously agreed that the law be amended after clause-to-clause in consideration of the bill by the lawmakers.
