Airports: Reps Approve N24bn Promissory Notes For Kebbi, Nasarawa

The House of Representatives has approved N24 billion federal government promissory notes to Kebbi and Nasarawa States government for the take over of Airports.

This followed the consideration and approval of the report of the House

Committee on Aids Loans and Debts Management, chaired by Hon. Abubakar Hassan Nalaraba (APC, Nasarawa) at plenary on Thursday.

President Bola Tinubu had in May requested the House to approve N15 billion and N9 billion promissory notes for the Kebbi and Nasarawa states government, respectively for the take over of the airports built by the two states.

Tinubu in the request called for: “Establishment of a promissory note programme in favour of the Kebbi and Nasarawa State governments for the reimbursement of the respective costs of the construction of newly built airports in those states that have been taken over by the federal government.”

Presenting the report,  Nalaraba prayed the House to, “consider the Report of the Committee on Aids, Loans and Debt Management on Establishment of Promissory Note Programme as Reimbursement to Nasarawa and Kebbi State for takeover of Airports by the federal government in the sum N9,542,651,786.11 and N15,137,336,095.88, based on the claims by the States as approved by the Federal Executive Council and approve the recommendations therein.”

He also asked the House to,”approve a Promissory Note Programme as reimbursement to Nasarawa and Kebbi State Governments, for the takeover of newly constructed Cargo Airports and development of Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport by the federal government in the sum of N9,542,651,786.11 and N15,137,336,095.88 based on the claims by the states.”
