In a significant move towards reforming the Nigerian Correctional Service, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has pledged to address serious allegations of misconduct within the system.
This commitment follows a viral audio recording in which Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, alleged that his godfather colluded with the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service to arrange for him to serve his six-month sentence in a private residence rather than an official correctional facility.
The allegations, brought to light by social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, have raised concerns about the integrity of the correctional system in Nigeria. In response, the minister swiftly ordered an investigation and suspended several correctional officers pending the outcome.
