The Edo State government says it has uncovered plans by embattled former deputy governor Philip Shaibu to invade the Government House with thugs on Monday, September 30, to forcefully resume office and enforce his recent reinstatement by an appeal court.
Special Adviser on Media to Governor Godwin Obaseki, Crusoe Osagie, who raised the alarm in a statement late Saturday, called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun and well-meaning Nigerians to prevail on Shaibu to refrain from what he termed a devious plot, adding, that it was a clear recipe for chaos, given the fact that a policeman was killed the last time he attempted such action.
Osagie noted that the planned plot by Shaibu is coming at a time a stay of execution appeal has been filed by the government challenging the reinstatement ruling.
