The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has issued a 14-day strike warning ultimatum to the Federal Government to address its demands.
The ultimatum is the union’s third in the last three months as the varsity lecturers push for resolution of the dispute which dates back to 2009.
ASUU is demanding funding for the revitalisation of public universities, partly captured in the 2023 budget, payment of Earned Academic Allowances, release of unpaid salaries for staff on sabbatical, payment of its members’ salaries withheld over the 2022 strike, and the adoption of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) as a replacement for Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
