Nigeria Police Arrest Two Suspected Political Thugs, Seize Firearms In Edo Ahead Of Governorship Election

The arrests, made following a tip-off, mark a significant step in the police’s efforts to combat electoral violence.

In a statement released on Saturday, NPF spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi detailed the arrests of Edwin Obanor, 43, and Audu Tajudeen, 41, identified as a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from Ugbogbo quarters, Igara Akoko. During searches of the suspects’ belongings, police uncovered three cut-to-size locally fabricated pistols in Obanor’s possession and one locally made gun from Tajudeen.
